Bird cage culture is a part of traditional Chinese culture which can be dated back to more than a thousand years ago during the Song dynasty.  In the middle of the Qing dynasty, raising birds became very popular among the nobles and the high society. The process of making birdcages reached its peak in the reign of emperor, some of which were made to perfection, its artistic value reached the highest level.  Under the influence of the royal family, people all over the country followed suit, raising birds to play in cages.
